The Willow Creek Leadership Centre has contacted Corps Ministries Department again this year to personally invite and encourage as many Officers and lay leaders as possible to participate in the upcoming "Global Leadership Summit" being "simulcast" to a wide selection of over 20 sites at major cities across Canada on August 8,9 & October 24-25, 2013.





The Willow Creek Leadership Centre is offering The Salvation Army their kick off special registration price of $99.00 per person for "NEW PARTICIPANTS" if we commit to purchase 100 Registrations as noted in the attached advertisement. For returning delegates they are able to offer you a rate of $129 each for a group of 100. With the purchase of these group registrations any that are unused will be carried forward to the next year.

]]> In many provinces June is associated with seniors. Many communities across the various provinces pay tribute to seniors by observing Senior's Month. This provides an excellent opportunity to recognize senior men and women who make a viable contribution to society.

Seniors are the fastest growing population segment in Canada. Currently, 4.2 million Canadians are 65 or older. In the next 25 years, that number will double to almost 9 million people, representing 1/4 of Canada's population.

At one time we thought of a new corps as a plant for the first 5 years. Some research suggests now that 5 years is no longer enough time to establish a new corps, that it takes as long as 10 years. And beyond the age of a plant what should be the markers that mean it is now a corps? Is it established leaders and a stable set of programs? Is it financial stability? Some of our corps that have been operating for 100 years struggle with financial stability.

So far we know a plant is not a corps - has not reached those determining markers. And we know that a plant is not something that is 25 years old. But what is a plant? We are suggesting we define it is "where things are focused on starting". And of course in revitalization we speak of things being focused on re-starting. What's your thinking? We would love to have your feedback.
